Leviticus Written by Moses BC Still at Mt Sinai - not in promised land (Caanan) yet

Leviticus Leviticus is devoted to the worship of the redeemed people of God. For “Levites” – one of 12 tribes – descendants of Aaron. It was written as instructions for the Hebrew community in holy worship and holy living – to imitate God’s holiness, enjoy the presence and blessing of God – to keep God happy so He would stay with them... Dwell with them. Hebrew school children first learned book of Leviticus. Quoted over 100 times in the New Testament.

Outline of Leviticus Consecrate yourselves and be holy because I am holy... Leviticus 11:44-45) – transforming former Hebrew slaves into a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. Ch 1 – 10: Procedures for worshipping Yahweh Ch 11 – 25: Translating holiness in daily living Ch 26 & 27: Covenant blessings and curses

End of Exodus – Begin Leviticus Exodus ended with the dedication of the tabernacle (tabernacle was built) Leviticus begins with God addressing Moses from the “tent of meeting” – worshipping at tabernacle. Read Exodus and Leviticus together – one story.

Teachings of Leviticus Holiness (holy or common/clean & unclean) Sacrifice (grain, fellowship/peace, whole burnt, sin, guilt offerings) Sabbath Rest – reminder Yahweh was creator Sabbatical Year – rest for land. 6 yrs on, 1 off Burnt offering – male, without blemish (Jesus) everything except hide, which was given to priest. Total consecration to the Lord I’ll be a living sanctuary – for you!

Jesus as Lord When a person accepts Jesus as their Lord – Confessing their belief that Jesus died, was buried, and resurrected on the third day, they are saved and get eternal life – He was your sin offering. A person then needs to dedicate their life – accept Him as Jesus as Lord. Be different, be holy, represent Jesus wherever you are – school, work, wherever. My life is yours – you are my Lord!
