Deer Valley Unified School District Analysis of Classroom Dollar Report
As an example, from the FY09 Classroom Dollar Report the DVUSD Plant Operation appears to: – Have a lower cost per square footage than the peer group and the State – Have a lower dollar amount per pupil than the peer group and the State – But the amount per pupil is a only slightly less on a percentage of the total per pupil ( 11.0% ) than the peer group (11.2%) and the State is greater yet (11.6%) Why? Is there more to this story?
AASBO Data Collection Project SDER Report – All Custodians/Maintenance
Analysis of All Custodians/Maintenance Report Some districts outsource custodial services Of our five peer districts, the average Attending ADM per Custodian is 145 FTE; DVUSD is 128 FTE We also know from the Classroom Dollar Report that DVUSD has less square footage per student than our peer districts ( 125 vs. 137 ) DVUSD has 11.7% more FTE and 8.7% fewer square footage ( SF/Student )
Conclusions of All Custodians/Maintenance Report DVUSD has more custodial/maintenance staff (FTE) than comparable districts DVUSD cost for Plant Operations is in line with comparable districts as a percentage of total spending DVUSD costs for Plant Operations is lower than comparable districts on a per pupil basis Hypothesis DVUSD has savings in costs other than staffing within Plant Operations expenditures
