Malawi Malawi Region: Southern Africa West of Lake Malawi Mostly plateau Climate Zone: Sub-Tropical Rainy Season (Nov. – May) Dry Seasons (May – Nov.) Natural Resources: Fertile Soil which allows people to grow: tobacco, sugarcane, cotton, tea, corn, potatoes, cassava, sorghum, groundnuts, Macadamia nuts, cattle, goats Mining uranium, coal, and bauxite (aluminum ore)

Current Economy What Malawians are Doing Now to Make a Living Subsistence Farming - farming crops for their families Cash Crops – Tobacco, tea, sugar, sawmill products and cement Mining – Uranium, coal and bauxite (aluminum ore)

What Moving Windmills Can Do Malawians are trying to develop their country’s manufacturing capabilities, but there is an unreliable supply of electricity. Therefore, we at Moving Windmills are planning to create a series of windmills that can help produce the electricity that Malawi needs in order to expand their industry. By increasing their manufacturing capabilities Malawi could then export what their industries produce, diversifying their economy.
