 The Illinois Theatre Association Allstate Production And the Illinois High School Theatre Festival

What is Allstate?  The All-State Production is one of the many events at the Annual Illinois High School Theatre Festival, the largest such event in the United States. The All-State Production brings together a company of students and staff from all areas of Illinois. Usually the cast, crew and orchestra include more than 70 of the state’s top drama and music students. The students and staff involved will put together the entire production in fewer than 20 rehearsals.

Who has made it  Emily Lyons First Person EVER from LHS  Aubree Tally-2011 Second Actor from LHS  Kevin Goffard First Tech EVER from LHS  We are putting LHS on the map in terms of theatre productions

How can I get involved?  Visit the Illinois High School Theatre Festivals website and click on the Allstate info link.  Download and fill in all the required information and turn it in.  Interview and you will be notified if you make it.  In all honesty, colleges look at Allstate people, and they want them. I was approached by more then 20 colleges wanting me to go do tech for their school. It is also a AMAZING time and you meet a lot of great people. Some people are my best friends I ever met because Allstate is a place where people just want to be your friends and you are the best of the best.  Many people wont interview. I call them weak and scared, and they are a loser. Because you are. If you cant interview, you must not care this much for the field of theatre. Interview, get involved. What can happen is amazing. Take me for example. Look at what happened for me. The same can happen for you.

What’s this thing your calling the Illinois High School Theatre Fest?  The Illinois High School Theatre Festival was founded in 1974 and is the largest and oldest non-competitive high school theatre festival in the world. Each year, over 4,000 students, teachers, university representatives, exhibitors, and volunteers come together for three days to put on over 25 different high school productions and over 150 workshops. Other highlights include college/university auditions for high school seniors, professional development for teachers, a student film festival, and the annual All-State Production, featuring student cast, crew, and orchestra members from across the state.  They also have the tech Olympics, where you can compete in: Wiring a stage pin connector Building a "Hollywood" hard flat Focusing an ellipsoidal to a geometric shape Executing a costume quick change Striking & setting up a props table on/offstage Nicopress crimping of aircraft cable Setting up sound equipment Knot tying Go at least once in your high school career. You will love it and have the time of your life
