Lab1 Questionnaire CPIT 250 System Analysis and Design

Lab1: Outlines System Development Life cycle ( where we are ? ) Questionnaire –Definition –When can you decide to use the questionnaire ? –Questionnaire’s Questions Types –How can make well Designed Questionnaire ? –Tools to make a questionnaire CPIT 250 System Analysis and Design

System Development Life cycle Where we are ? CPIT 250 System Analysis and Design

What is Questionnaire ? It’s a quick way to gather massive amount of data (information gather technique) about how users assess the current system, about what problems they are experiencing with their work, and about what people expect from a new or modified system. CPIT 250 System Analysis and Design

When can use the Questionnaire? There are multiple techniques to gather information concerning to the old and new systems and people who did/will work with it, You have to decide when you can use the questionnaire as a proper technique to gather as much information as you can and to get out a great benefit from those gathered information. CPIT 250 System Analysis and Design

When can use the Questionnaire? So, you can consider using questionnaire if : –The people you need to question are widely dispersed –A large number of people are involved in the system project –You wish to be certain that any problems with the current system are identified and addressed in follow- up interviews. CPIT 250 System Analysis and Design

Getting Started Before you start to design a questionnaire, identify its objectives. More specifically, identify what kind of information you want to obtain. Then brainstorm – write down all possible questions for incorporating in the questionnaire. CPIT 250 System Analysis and Design

Questions Types Open Ended Questions, –It require more thought and more than a simple one- word answer, e.g, Describe…. ?, List the most frequent problems ….?, Why…. ?, ………etc Close Ended Questions –It require a simple yes/no answer or the respondent is asked to choose one of the answers, CPIT 250 System Analysis and Design

Well Designed Questionnaire (How ? In constructing the question: –Keep questions simple, avoid ambiguous, double-barreled and hypothetical questions, –Avoid words of more than three or four syllables and over-long sentences. –In closed questions, allow the respondent the option of answering with ‘not appropriate’, ‘don’t know’ or ‘have no strong feelings’. –Avoid overly sensitive questions – you are unlikely to get a ‘true’ response. CPIT 250 System Analysis and Design

In the general design, –Start with a brief sentence to explaining the purpose of the questionnaire, and what the data will be used for. –A good questionnaire has a clear and coherent structure questions dealing with similar aspects should be grouped together develop a logical order of questionnaires. –Do not leave important questions to the end of questionnaire. –Do not split questions over pages, or ask questions that require answers to be completed on subsequent pages. CPIT 250 System Analysis and Design Well Designed Questionnaire (How ?
