Academic English Academic English Areas of Study Areas of Study: Grammar: parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation Literature: 1 novel per marking period  Vocabulary from context  Literature circle discussions  Graphic organizers/Post-it flags to aid analytical study Writing: formal outlining, informational, argument, narrative Poetry: will be done each marking period

Policies: Homework is not accepted late. Students are required to have work completed upon return from an absence/vacation. Students are not excused from assignments due to computer problems. Projects and writing assignments are penalized for lateness. Extra credit is not offered.

Grading: Each assignment is given a point value. Homework stamp sheet and grade sheet are kept in students’ notebooks. All graded work is returned. How Can You Help? Hold your child accountable for work. Make sure your child is checking our website and using his or her assignment book daily. Check HAC, RAP sheet, HW sheet weekly.
