Hernando de Soto Hernando de Soto was a Spanish explorer and conquistador that was known to have discovered the Mississippi River and his participation in the conquests of Central America and Peru. Robert de La Salle was a French explorer that was known to sail the entirety of the Mississippi River and discovering the Coast of Mexico. Goal Goal: To explore and establish a fur-trade routes.
