SAVING WATER By Sasha Meek, Kayla Krepelka & Sarah-Kate Bergstedt

 All of the worlds resources are slowly being used up and wasted, especially water. So we constructed a survey of our local community to prove that a lot of water was being wasted every day.  We decided to survey 30 people above the age of 13 so that we got information from a variety of different people, making our results more reliable. INTRODUCTION

How many people live in your house?  We asked this question to determine the average number of people per family, so we could expect a little or a lot of water being used. The average number of people per house was 4. QUESTION 1

Do you wash dishes by hand, rather than using a dishwasher?  We found out that a small majority of people washed dishes by hand rather than using a dishwasher. This shows us that a small majority of people are using more and wasting more water than if they used a dishwasher. QUESTION 2

Do you use a shower or a bath?  We found out that the majority of people used a shower, which is good since showers use less water than baths. QUESTION 3

Do you have a large garden?  Only a few people had a big garden which uses lots of water to tend, so this question was successful since a large majority did not have one. QUESTION 4

Do you have a large pool?  To have a large pool you use a lot of water to refill and service it. So this question was successful since a lot of people didn't have one. QUESTION 5

When brushing your teeth, or using the tap, do you leave the tap running while busy?  A large majority of people didn't do this, and this saves water. QUESTION 6

Do you have a system in your house with collects or conserves water?  We were disappointed with these results since only a very small amount of people had a water collecting system. QUESTION 7

In your opinion are you good with water and try not to waste it?  This question was successful as the majority of people thought they had water saving skills. QUESTION 8

How often per week do you do a full clothes wash?  Most people only did 1 or 2 clothes washes a week, which is good and doesn’t use too much water. QUESTION 9

How many bathrooms so you have in your house?  This question was was successful as most people had 1 or 2 bathrooms and this saves a lot of water. QUESTION 10

 Our group was very surprised with our results because out of 10 questions, 7 were good answers for saving water.  We had thought that people were wasting too much water in our community, but after compiling our results in to a graph, we learnt that the St Cyprians community is very active in saving water.  We had of fun with this project and it taught us who to construct and reflect on a survey. CONCLUSION

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING! THE END
