Isometric Grid Missing Views Square Grid Given the front and right side view, determine the top and isometric views. The next 8 slides show a step by step procedure of how to convert a multi-view when one of the three views is missing into an isometric pictorial. Helps emphasize the usage of the construction box to aid in the visualization of the various surfaces. Note that all dimensions for the initial box are available – H & W in the front view and H & D in the right side view. Sketching - 10

? Step 1 Create the Outline (Box) for Isometric View Need to find the missing top view Create the isometric view Draw the construction box based on the dimensions from the front and the right side view Sketching - 10

? Step 2 Draw known surfaces of Isometric view What order different surfaces are done in is not critical (is arbitrary). This example starts with a principal surface from front view. Sketching - 10

? Step 3 Finalize Isometric View Darken lines that remain as part of body Other lines are just construction lines. In homework leave the construction lines ( Helps us check for correct process). Sketching - 10

Step 4A ADDING TOP VIEW Add Outside Boundary (width and depth from front and right side views) Now the students can add the top view. They know the width and depth of the object so they can sketch a rectangle that will contain the top view. Be sure the top view is aligned with the front view. Sketching - 10
