CAD FACTS 1 You define a field by specifying its name, type, and width or precision. Graphic properties include layer, color, width, style, and pattern. A draw program creates an image by defining objects mathematically. Underlying each drawing is a database. Auto-sketch keeps track of the scale of your drawing, FOT JOURNAL ENTRY

CAD FACTS 2 Auto-Sketch expresses location in three ways: xy (Cartesian), polar, and isometric coordinates. Isometric drawings are usually used to create two-dimensional views of a three-dimensional object. The grid origin is similar to the drawing origin in function and appearance. Drawing scale is the ratio between the actual size of the entities in a drawing and their size on printed output. Layers help you place entities together in logical groups. FOT JOURNAL ENTRY

FUTURE OUTLOOK for CAD Design is expected to grow more slowly than the average. CAD has increased the complexity of drafting applications. CAD is enhancing the productivity of drafters. Workers will need a strong background in fundamental drafting principles. FOT JOURNAL ENTRY
