Year 5’s Residential Visit to the Swattenden Centre Cranbrook in Kent Monday 22nd June to Thursday 25th June 2015 3 nights / 4 days

Where is the Swattenden Centre?

What are the educational benefits of going to Swattenden? Promotes self-confidence Makes children more independent Encourages teamwork

Why do we use the Swattenden Centre? Run by Kent County Council and an approved provider of adventurous activities. It is not too far from home! The activities are different from Class 6’s Wales trip. A safe environment. We have used the centre for several years. Our previous visits have been very successful! Ask the current Year 6 children!

Who will be looking after your children? We are taking FOUR adult supervisors:- Mr Ainsworth – Group Leader Mrs Eley – Learning Support Assistant Mr Moat and Mrs Cowdery Qualified staff from the Swattenden Centre who will be running all the adventurous activities which take place. This gives us a ratio of approximately 1 adult for every 7 children

What is the accommodation like? The children will stay in dormitories situated in the “Mansion House” We will have three rooms with either bunk or single beds. All the boys will be in one room with the girls divided between two. Staff bedrooms are located next to the children’s. All bedding is provided – children will be expected to make and strip their own beds!

Food The Centre has its own catering facilities. Three meals will be served each day. Different tastes and diets catered for. On Thursday the children will be given a packed lunch when we visit Leeds Castle.

Visiting your children Visits preferably on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Chance to see what your children have been upto. There might even be a chance to have a go at something… Please think carefully about how a parental visit might affect your child!
