Warm-Up 10/9/12 [Copy the question+date and write your answer] List as many prepositions as you can!

Grammar Review What is a prepostional phrase? Includes a preposition Object of preposition Any modifiers Where is the preposition, modifier, object: The picture on the cover is mine.

Identifying Prepositional Phrases * write down the full prepositional phrase 1. Spike Lee was born in Georgia. 2. He studied at a New York university. 3. The video store near my house carries his films. 4. Lee appears in some films. 5. His father wrote the music for this movie.

Prepositional Phrases Get Funky (maybe even like a monkey) Remember how sometimes nouns could act like adjectives or verbs? What show do you want to watch? Sarah will show the new students around campus. The show case was full of student art. Prepositional phrases can function like other parts of speech, too! Everyone on my soccer team had experience. The snack of leftovers was delicious.

Prepositional Phrases as Adjectives *write down the prepositional phrase  word it modifies 1. Both Alaska and Hawaii were once territories of the U.S. 2. The name for the mainland portion of Alaska was once Alakshak. 3. The origin of the name Hawaii is unknown. 4. These are two of our most beautiful states. 5. Many people from all over enjoy these magical places.
