Presentation transcript:

Lesson 2 English 11

Today’s Agenda EA #1 Requirements Pursuit of Happiness Written Response and Discussion Activity 4.2 Searching for Meaning Objectives: -Develop a working definition of Transcendentalism and its key tenets. -Explain how the Transcendentalists envisioned the pursuit of happiness.

EA #1 Requirements On the notecard provided, write down the four requirements for Embedded Assessment #1. This is a timed activity. You may use your book.

Unpacked Embedded Assessment 1 Describe a personal experience and convey its significance to the reader. Choose an organization structure that includes an event, a response, and a reflection. Effectively employ consistent tone, purposeful diction, and vivid details. Present a final draft that demonstrates evidence of the writing process.

Unit Four: The Pursuit of Happiness What makes you happy? Really think about this. When are you the happiest? What are you doing? What is going on around you? Be specific. 5-7 sentences minimum Share with your table (or not, if it is too personal). Are you happiest alone? With other people? What does the pursuit of happiness mean to you? What would you pursue? A career? True love? Wilderness? Freedom? What have you done to “pursue happiness”? If a friend was constantly unhappy, what advice would you give to him or her? Respond in complete sentences thoroughly. (5-7 sentences or more) Pair share.
