Pakistan Education Leadership Institute (PELI) Network – Pakistan A Registered Professional Network – Proposed under the Companies Act 1984 (Section 42 - Not for Profit)

Vision Building Communities of Best Practice for Quality Professional Learning & Leadership across Pakistan and AJK

Mission 1.To achieve the vision through all the Alumni of Plymouth State University Pakistan -Educational Leadership Institute (PELI) 2.Focus on the areas of: Heritage Environmental Preservation Responsible Citizenship Peace

Mission 3.Focus on all subject areas through in- country synergies, the US State Alumni programs of the US State Department and other partner institutions outside Pakistan. 4.Mobilize multiple resources in order to: Expand good practices across institutions Build strategic groups in public and private sector education programs.

Mission 5.Maintain the spirit of: Professional volunteerism Commitment to contemporary pedagogies Accountability.

Code of Conduct 1.Donate 4 -6 days of professional time in any part of Pakistan and AJK (costs for transport/accommodation/materials will be supported) 2.Commitment to: Update and create new knowledge and innovative practices for educational excellence, relevance and connection of local contexts to global knowledge systems

Code of Conduct 3.Adhere to the core ethos of the PELI project funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs B(ECA).

Objectives 1.To devise collaboratively an iterative medium term or three year strategy on a rolling basis for meeting the vision and mission of the Network. 2.To promote goodwill through professional programs conducted regularly through an agreed annual calendar of activities/programs. 3.To host seminars, roundtable curriculum and policy dialogues, conferences at local, national and regional levels.

Objectives 4.To compete for relevant projects bids in – country or abroad to promote the vision and mission of the professional Network. 5.To award grants and other projects as deemed relevant to educators of the network and other networks /institutions.

Objectives 6.To explore possibilities for upgrading professional degrees in country or abroad along with faculty and student exchange program through existing USEF, HEC and other programs. 7.To remain in touch on a monthly basis with the State Department Alumni program at all times sharing updates, annual calendar of activities, newsletters and research programs.

Objectives 8.To produce quarterly newsletter and an e- newsletter to inform about important developments/ opportunities in the fields of interest for PELI and share updates on PELI network activities. 9.To undertake research in areas of interest through multiple channels including collaboration with PSU and other affiliate institutions such as ITA/IPL.

Objectives 10.To link where possible with other professional networks within Pakistan in the public and private sectors. 11.To prepare a user friendly and inter-active website for the PELI Network with all relevant links. 12.To participate and support PELI Project funded by BECA and hosted by PSU:

Objectives 13 a) review of criteria for the project, summer institute housed at PSU, and follow-on activities in Pakistan b) teacher/ participant selection processes; c) Master Action Plans (MAPs) implementation monitoring programs; d) Annual Pre departure workshops and debriefing sessions and e) Capstone conferences

Geographical Scope All Pakistan, FATA and AJK Linkages across  South Asia  United Kingdom  United States of America  Canada  Malaysia  China

Governance Secretariat housed at ITA/IPL - Lahore/Islamabad Chairperson (to be elected) by the Board Board of Directors - One Representative from each province, FATA, ICT and AJK Two to three experts as advisers /board members General Body – All Alumni automatically by virtue of their being PELI alumni

Governance The BoD will have the power to set up focused committees as per need: e.g., Finance committee and quality assurance committee etc.

Meetings The meetings will be held quarterly or more often if deemed necessary Meetings may be in one location (subject to availability of Funds) or electronically and through Skype  For all face to face meetings costs of travel and accommodation will be reimbursed by the PELI network

Secretariat Housed at ITA/IPL in Islamabad and Lahore Costs met out of the funds of the PELI network Secretariat will have one full time staff with part time accountant (to begin with)

Secretariat Tasks of the secretariat shall include:  Coordinating the network with full data bases of members  Host and plan for governance meetings  Information gathering and preparing bids for funding and potential projects  Information sharing to all members about professional learning possibilities

Secretariat Tasks of the secretariat shall include:  Preparing newsletters and dissemination with support from members  Prepare the seal and stamp of PELI Network

Secretariat Financial 1.PELI Network will be set up with a corpus of Rs. 425,000 (US $ 5000) called the PELI Fund 2.It will have the power to raise funds for its vision, mission and objectives 3.The Fund shall be managed by the Secretariat through a professional accountant/s and a finance committee established by the PELI Network’s BoD.

Secretariat Financial 4.It will have the power to invest the funds for optimum returns with concurrence of its Board.

PELI NETWORK PELI Network will be registered as a Not for Profit Company under Section 42 of the Companies Act 1984 after the review/debriefing held on September 24-25, 2010 with PELI Alumni.
