 The Eatwell plate by the NHS suggests the different types of food we need to eat, in what proportions, to have a healthy and balanced diet. The plate applies to most people, not matter if they are vegetarian, healthy weight or overweight, but not children under 2 because they have different nutritional needs.  It’s good to try and keep to these guidelines, but that doesn’t have to be every meal.  Eating healthily is about eating the right amount of food for your energy needs.  In UK most adults are overweight or obese. Home What is obesity?

There are may ways to get active, but they don’t have to be tiring and straining tasks. They can be fun:  Going on a bike ride.  Go to the park with mates.  Learning Martial Arts.  Going swimming.  Throwing a ball and catching it. Or simple:  Walking to school.  Riding a bike to school.  Playing football.  Taking the stairs.  Going for a walk-even if you’re walking the dog.  Using public transport. Home You don’t have to do 60 minutes at once, you can always do 10 minute chunks.

 There are many non-physical ways to make you feel good and are good for you. Such as:  Relaxing or meditating.  Smiling – this tells your brain you are happy.  Listening to your favourite song.  Spending time with friends.  Good night’s sleep.  Lying out in the sun.  Taking a nap.  Giving a cat or dog love and attention.  Laughing.  And finally spending time with family.
