NES Survey for the Annual Pre- registration Nursing & Midwifery Performance Management Reviews Approximately 3500 mentors in Lothian Although numbers completing is rising, only 250 – 300 mentors & C/Ns responded to the survey in each of the last 3 years

You said, we did…. Student assessment documentation is not user friendly when assessment documentation is reviewed by the Universities, mentors will be invited to be involved. Edinburgh Napier University is currently reviewing the curriculum for 2016 and is seeking input from clinical areas.

NES Mentor & C/N Surveys Question: In your experience, how could the educational experience (course/placements) of nursing and midwifery students be improved? Biggest response was related to?

The BIG T

TIME

More time Protected time Less students at one time Assessment documentation less time consuming

You said, we did…. Inappropriate number of students for area/ number of mentors A new Service Level Agreement is due in This will include a review of how the numbers of students per area is calculated / agreed.

Thank you The PEF / CHEF team would like to thank you all for your continued hard work in supporting student nurses and midwives on placements. We really do appreciate how challenging finding the time to support students can be due to your clinical workload and other commitments.

Please ensure you make your voice heard by completing the next survey.

……if you’ve got the time!!!!!
