Smart Objectives

Specific  Objectives which use specificity describe outcomes  Will increase yields by %  Will demonstrate a measurable change of character  Will provide a financial return of  Will complete an associates degree  Will attend a future short course

Measurable  Design objectives so outcomes can be clearly measured  75% of those attending the training program will adopt the practice  Participants will attend three of the future program offered  Students will be able to define five terms associated with financial planning

Attainable  Good objectives are attainable within a reasonable period of time  Within the next six months participants will have observed four ways in which they can reduce family expenditures  Fuel consumption for harvesting of corn silage will be reduced by 20%  Conference registrants will increase their out of pocket expenditures by 8% in the first fiscal quarter

Relevant  Objectives should relate to the specific meeting or event. They should also be meaningful to the attendees of outreach programs  By attending this outreach program consumers will discover six ways that they can save money on food purchases

Time-based  An objective that can be accomplished in a realistic time frame  Within four weeks participants will be able to navigate an on farm financial spreadsheet  At the end of the term youth will demonstrate their ability to apply the five principles of good public speaking

Writing Smart Objectives Can  Leads to measurable impacts  Clearly defines your program  Help others understand what you are trying to accomplish!
