Lesson 1: Lists What is a SharePoint list? Common lists in SharePoint: Announcements Contacts Discussions Tasks Calendars Issue Tracking Surveys

Create/Import a List Lists are created by default in new sites You may want to create a new list Create on your own Import from Excel

Create a Task List You can use SharePoint to assign tasks Assign tasks based on projects, or meetings

Creating Views Standard Datasheet Calendar Gantt Public or Personal views

Setting Up Version History Check in/check out documents Revert to previous version of list item Implement change management policies

Creating a Survey Collect and compile feedback Enable survey branching to better gather information Public or private surveys

Associating Workflows Documents may need to undergo a formal approval process This process, known as a workflow, can be set up easily in a library.

Creating a Form Library Forms can support one-to-many data relationships InfoPath uses standard XML format InfoPath can validate and calculate data InfoPath can connect to external data

Setting Up Version History Check in/check out documents Revert to previous version of list item Implement change management policies

Requiring Checking In/Checking Out Check in/out is used for change management Check in/out can be set as a required action

Lesson 3: Columns Columns contain discrete pieces of data Views define what columns are displayed Columns can be added or deleted

Creating Columns Columns can be added to a list or library as needed You can also edit and remove columns

Creating Content Types Libraries and lists can hold specific content types Multiple content types can also be specified for a list or library

Lab Work: Lesson 3 Create a Column Edit an Existing Column Delete a Column Edit Content Types

Lesson 4: Subsites Subsites can be added to publishing sites Users can be given permission to create subsites on their own

What is a Subsite? Subsites can act as a site for a department’s team, or a division’s department, etc. Subsites enable collaborative/publishing workspaces Wiki sites can be sub sites

Lab Work: Lesson 4 Create a Wiki Home Page Allow Users to Create a Subsite Create a Subsite

Lesson 5: Web Parts Web Parts can display internal data from a SharePoint list or library External data can also be pulled in (RSS feeds) Some Web Parts can handle special content

Adding Web Parts Web parts can be added to any Web Part page. Once added, Web Parts can be configured and moved as needed.

Lab Work: Lesson 5 Add a Web Part Add a Silverlight Web Part Implement and Configure a Custom Query Web Part
