Course Learning Goal It is the goal of this course of instruction for Lawrence, Massachusetts, School Safety Officers (SSO) to have a heightened awareness and increased knowledge of necessary facts and skills to better discharge their duties in their SSO capacity. Course Learning Objectives  Define and discuss history, roles & responsibilities and relationships of SSOs  Identify, discuss the issues and necessary skills to be more effective communicators and SSO roles in child abuse and special education kids  Demonstrate understanding of SSO role in substance abuse & addiction and emergency planning
