Inter-regional gravity model (GM&DM)  Bogataj M. and S. Drobne (2004): Does the improvement of roads increase the daily commuting? Numerical analysis of Slovenian interregional flows. In: Zadnik Stirn L. et all (Eds.). Selected decision support models for production and public policy problems, (SDI-SOR series, no. 3). Ljubljana.  Inter-regional (a) migration and (b) commuting were analysed for 12 regions in Slovenia (for period ):... by investing in roads, which would improve the time distance by 20 %, daily commuting (DC) could increase up to 70 % on average;... by investing in roads, which would improve the time distance by 20 %, gross migration (GM) would increase by 42 % on average.

Inter-country gravity model  Drobne S., M. Bogataj and L. Bogataj (2006): Spatial interactions influenced by European corridors and the shift of the Schengen border regime. In: Boljunčič V. et all (Eds.). The 11th International Conference on Operational Research, Pula, 27th-29th September, KOI 2006 proceedings. Zagreb.  An extended gravity o model was defined to estimate available human resources due to increased daily migrations between regions in Enlarged Europe and expected New Member Country (Croatia).  The model was improved by waiting lines methodology embedded in time spending distance functions.

Functional regions - 1  Drobne S., M. Konjar and A. Lisec (2009): Delimitation of Functional Regions Using Labour Market Approach. To be appeared in: Zadnik Stirn L. et all (Eds.). The 10th International Symposium on Operational Research in Slovenia, Nova Gorica, Slovenia, September 23-25, SOR '09 proceedings. Ljubljana.  Method for delimitation of functional regions by using data for inter-municipal daily commuting of working population was suggested. Method is applicable for functional urban areas (FUA).  The method was tested to analyze how so defined functional regions fit to proposed provinces (administrative regions) in Slovenia: The proposal for six administrative regions in Slovenia is “stronger” than the model of eight ones – there are not eight, but nine functional regions in Slovenia.
