How did the Vikings ships move? The ships were powered by oars or by the wind. The ships had one large square sail. No sails have survived from the Viking Age so we can only make a good guess about what they were made from. The most likely suggestion is that they were made of wool. What was the longship or warship like? Longships were used by the Vikings for making raids and for carrying their warriors. These ships were very long and narrow in shape. Often, the front of the ship was decorated with a carving of an animal head – perhaps a dragon or a snake. A

Viking women had to work the land, milk the cows and prepare clothing for the rest of the family. The children, on the other hand, would not study and they would help their mothers with the house labors including farming, When they were very young. N

There were many Viking gods and godesses. These included: Freyja: goddess of love and war. Odin: god of war. Loki: half fire spirit, half god. Thor: god of thunder. And many others. Loki A

Vikings traded goods such as honey, furs and others. They would weigh the object on a set of scales and place silver on the other side. When they weighed the same they would count the silver and that would be how much it would cost. Viking trading scales N

Viking food!!! With no fridges or freezers the Viking family had to take special measures to stop their food going bad. Meat and fish could be smoked or rubbed with salt. Fruit could be dried; grains were made into bread or ale. Dairy produce such as milk was made into cheese. Cooking the meat would make it last a little longer, making sausages would make it last longer still. A
