NETIQUETTE  Netiquette is etiquette guidelines for posting messages to online services, especially .  Remember these guidelines when you are ing administration, co-workers, and parents.  Netiquette can be enforced by fellow users who follow the rules and are quick to point out your mistakes.  GUIDELINES  Identify yourself  Include a subject line  Avoid Sarcasm  Respect other’s privacy  Acknowledge and return messages promptly  Copy with caution  No spam  Be concise  Use appropriate language, emotions, and intensifiers to help convey meaning.

COPYRIGHT AND FAIR USE  With the availability of online resources, many students have learned the art of copying and pasting.  The following websites provide adequate information that should be shared with your students.  They should be informed at the beginning of school about the guidelines that you expect them to follow.   This website provides information about fair use. 

PLAGIARISM  Many students struggle with composing their own assignments.  Plagiarism is taking another persons thoughts or ideas and using them as their own. Plagiarism  Teachers should take advantage of the following websites to help show plagiarism.  rism.checker/ rism.checker/    p p

SAFETY ON THE WEB  By giving students access to computers, teachers need to be more aware of what students are doing on the computer.  Make sure that all computer screens are visible.  Compose a list of websites that students are allowed to access.   

CONCLUSION  Please look at all of the websites and information that has been presented.  By reviewing this information, you will be able to teach your students the right way to use the internet, and what will be expected of them when turning in assignments.  These guidelines and rules will apply to each student in every classroom.  This PowerPoint should be reviewed with each student at the beginning of each year.
