Content Area: Social Studies Grade Level: Kindergarten Summary: The purpose of this power point is to have the students understand more about the American flag. Also to help the students practice shapes and colors. Learning Objective: Given pictures of the American Flag, students will understand what each area of the flag represents and why it is the colors it is. Standard:K.16 Identify the American flag and its colors and shapes.

Facts The American Flag has 13 stripes for the 13 original colonies of the Unites States. There are 50 stars that represent each state in the Union.

Colors of the Flag Red – represents strength & bravery White – represents purity & integrity Blue – represents vigilance, perseverance & justice
