An overview Opium use has a long history in Iran. For treatment, Antidote or abuse.

Overview of use Opium(various forms), heroin, concentrated (in Iran called crack!), Methamphetamine(called Shishe), various kind of THC( called hashish in extract form),Alcohol… are found in Iran. The percentage of use is based on the age, accessibility, cost, socioeconomic status of user and the place of use. For example Ritalin is common between university student or MDMA use in rave parties.

Legal treatments The main decision-maker is government by Iran Drug Control Headquarters. And then this decision referred to other governmental or nongovernmental organization. They work on all field of drug use control; from struggle with smugglers to rehabilitation centers for addicts So the treatments is also under governmental supervision.

Licensed clinics There is two organization that allow running a treatment clinic: 1- ministry of health 2- state welfare organization of Iran

Common Treatments for opioid addiction There is “ outpatient addiction treatment centers”. License issued by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Private state Both of them under supervision of government. and they have Quota of Methadone, buprenorphine and opium tincture. The main idea for running theses centers is to hazard prevention specially for HIV/AIDS and based on statistics, the progression of this disease is stopped. But detoxification is also done in these centers It starts from about 12 years ago
