Begin with a topic sentence: State what the paragraph is about, the topic. Make it interesting.

Example Slide 1 Last summer my family planned an amazing vacation in our backyard. Note again: Vacation still is the topic of this 5 slide paragraph.

Write three detail sentences. Each sentence should tell about the topic. Use good describing words and interesting action words.

Example: Slide 2 We built a tree house to spend warm summer nights. Slide 3 While enjoying a night under the stars, a bat wandered into our tree house. Slide 4 As we screamed, yelled and ducked under the covers, my dad chased the bat away.

Ending sentence: Restate the topic of the paragraph. Keep it interesting. Make it a closing sentence so your reader knows this is the end of the paragraph.

Example Slide 5 Later we laughed realizing it was the bat incident that made our family vacation amazing.
