Math I CAN find the measure of angles. I CAN construct angles.
Vocabulary Angle: Two rays with a common endpoint form an angle. The rays and the vertex are used to name the angle. Vertex: A vertex of an angle is the common endpoint of the rays forming the angle. Degree: The most common unit of measure for angles.
Vocabulary Acute angle—Angle that is less than 90 degrees.
Vocabulary Right angle—Angle that measures 90 degrees.
Vocabulary Obtuse angle — Angle that is greater than 90 degrees
Vocabulary Straight Angle – An angle that measures exactly 180˚
Identify the following as acute, obtuse, right, or straight
Angle Relationships Vertical Angles: Opposite angles formed by the intersection of two lines. Vertical angles have the same measure! Which angles are vertical angles?
Congruent Angles: Angles that have the same measure.
Supplementary Angles: Two angles are supplementary if the sum of their measures is 180˚
Complementary Angles: Two angles are complementary if the sum of their measures is 90˚ = 90˚
Now let’s measure angles!
Measure the following angle then classify it as acute, obtuse, right, or straight.
