Magnets were not invented, they were discovered from a naturally occurring mineral called magnetite. The ancient Greeks were the discoverers of magnetite. Interesting Fact! There is a story about a shepherd named Magnes whose shoe nails stuck to a rock containing magnetite.

There are three types of magnets, electromagnets, permanent magnets and temporary magnets. Interesting Fact! Permanent magnets can be made from iron, ferrite, colbolt or alnico.
