Outdoor activities Pros/Contras Students spend a lot of time indoors, and it is good for their health to be outside Children are able to build bonds with each other and their teachers They can connect with authentic, purposeful, and real-life objectives Size, condition and location of the outdoor space Teachers were not truly aware of the potential usefulness and benefits Teachers concern about child safety It is more expensive It requires a lot of preparatory work.

Keeping Things Afloat: Investigating Sinking and Floating Learning Goals Students will make predictions and carry out experiments to test their predictions. Students will identify important properties that may affect an object's ability to sink or float. Students will design specific experiments to determine the effect of changing the mass or volume of an object on that object's ability to float or sink. Students will come to their own working definition and mathematical relationship for why an object floats or sinks Students will be introduced to the concept of buoyancy and density
