Argue/Debate I will assign you the role of either a prosecuting attorney or a defense attorney and prepare persuasive speeches for the jury in regards to the guilt or innocence of the narrator, Brother. YOUR job will be to gather details from the text that revolve around the two main characters and the details which support the symbolic imagery of the story. YOU are essentially lawyers gathering evidence, the text should become something you delve into when reading so that you don’t miss anything of importance * As audience members you WILL be quiet, kind, and courteous to the presenter! Make sure to stay engaged and listen to what they are saying it may help you write your own argument.

Rough Draft Workshop Tasks 1.Sit with your groups 2.Materials you will need your rough draft with copies pen/pencil/maybe a marker or colored pen Blank Lined Paper Rough Draft Peer Review Sheet 3.Mindset? - Golden Rule 4.You want to try to get to everyone in your group but if you do not then at least 3. On each paper you will put CB: YOUR NAME 5.Last ten minute will be a time to talk about the papers you’ve read. A WOW & WONDER!
Scarlet Ibis Read Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst closely and analytically. ● Make sure to annotate the story as you go along highlighter or not the annotations are the important part. I prefer them in the margins and complete sentences. ● Questions - Multiple Levels of Questions - Starting with “I wonder…?” ● Comments - Opinion on the text - Starting with “I think…” ● Connections - To Text, To Self, to World - Starting off with “I Know…” or “This reminds me of…” After you are finished briefly summarize the story in your notebook. If you still have time then you should read your outside reading book.
