District B Meeting- Sept 16 th, 2010 Communicating with the bench 1. disputed goals 2. multiple penalty sits. 3. Something truly bizzarre Otherwise, try to minimize coming over to talk to the coaches…and always in discussion, not a yelling match. You do have pens. Use “ladder” approach

District B Meeting- Sept 16 th, 2010 Neckguards- Not mandatory…yet…may yet happen…stay tuned AAA/AA- League play starts soon…I have submitted Bytown list to the assignor. Very similar to last year…but as we go, we can and will add to the roster Bytown still assigns Rep B/A (up to Maj. Pw), and AA (up to Min. Pw) Big events- BCC, March Break tournaments, OYT, Exhibition games- paid cash- ref (or guy instructed by assignor) will pick up assigning fee. Dress code. On time. Just like regular games

District B Meeting- Sept 16 th, 2010 Game sheets- Take the top copy home with you. You will have 24 hours to complete form in odharefs.com incident database. Questions, an exec member or ask a friend Quiz program- year 2 and 3- Sean Tobin will be helping Ian in this respect Availability up to date…NOW! Games start On time- 20 min HL, 30 min comp Procedure- late-call your partner (don’t call me…or assignor 1 st ). THEN call the assignor.

District B Meeting- Sept 16 th, 2010 If you do not call, you are in just as much trouble as the guy who’s late…we’ve got 180 guys…someone can skate! Decline button- gone…I’m trying to have both, but for now, gone. Last season games picked up regularly (no worries) If you have game up for trade…and it doesn’t get picked up, it’s YOUR problem. (Your calendar). If you need to turn back a game, with no decline button, you will need to call Brian and Karen and you MUST speak to them…and will be charged re-assignment fee ($4.50 min as per constitution)…so do your job, calendar up to date. If you finding yourself stuck…get on the phone and call around…someone can work your game.

District B Meeting- Sept 16 th, 2010 Rule Emphasis- CTH- Hockey Canada does not feel it is being called enough “ A minor penalty a misconduct or a major and game misconduct at the discretion of the referee based on the degree of violence of impact, shall be assessed to any player who checks an opponent in the head area in any manner.” Ask yourself- where was initial contact made? If in head, we’re looking for CTH straight away. If a glancing blow, now you can assess degree of impact (minimal vs moderate vs. severe).

District B Meeting- Sept 16 th, 2010 New Procedures- Icing- no arm for official going down to stop play Puck drop- if you pick up the puck, you drop the puck This will result in lots of switching of ends…so pay attention.

District B Meeting- Sept 16 th, 2010 Line change- 2 man system- official NOT dropping puck (unless faceoff is at center ice spot for a goal/period) WHY?- Hockey Canada now has approved 2 NEW officiating systems…4 man and 2+1. They are NOT for Minor Hockey, but procedures must be similar across all systems. Rules- Spin-o-rama- legal on a PS. Lacross move “Michigan Goal”- shoulders/crossbar/ PS/Play Helmet stickers- CSA stickers- no expiry date of helmet.
