Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ Introduction to CERN CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is an intergovernmental organization with 20 Member States. CERN’s mission is to enable international collaboration in the field of high-energy particle physics research and to this end it designs, builds and operates particle accelerators and the associated experimental areas.

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ The Engineering Department provides CERN with the Engineering Competences, Infrastructure Systems and Technical Coordination required for the design, installation, operation, maintenance and dismantling phases of the CERN accelerator complex and its experimental facilities. Introduction to CERN and EN-CV group EN-CV Group Cooling & Ventilation The mandate of the CV group concerns the consolidation, operation and maintenance of the cooling systems, pumping stations, air conditioning installations and fluid distribution systems for the PS, SPS and LHC, The CV group is in charge of consolidation and projects from market survey to commissioning stages. The CV group also has the responsibility of the LHC Experiments specific cooling equipment and the development of future prototypes and their production.

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ The new building will be located at CERN – LHC - Point 8, in Ferney-Voltaire France. Introduction to the HVAC system for the new Assembly Hall The LHCb collaboration is preparing the upgrade of the existing experiment and a new assembly hall will be needed to manufacture and assembly new detectors.

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ Introduction to the HVAC System The Building 3852 will have a total surface of ~500 m 2 with a height of ~13 m. It will be composed of: A large assembly room of ~470 m 2 ; A technical room for CV installation of ~10 m 2 located under the mezzanine; Toilets.

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ Scope of the supply Deliverables and Activities Included in the Supply (see § 2.1 of TS) The scope of the supply shall include the design, selection, procurement, manufacturing, assembly of components, installation, testing and commissioning of: a complete HVAC system (including static exhaust, air extractor system for toilettes); a smoke extraction system; stainless steel pipes or aluminium pipes for the compressed air distribution circuit; insulated stainless steel pipes for the chilled water distribution circuit.

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ Scope of the supply 2.1 Deliverables and Activities Included in the Supply The scope of the supply shall include: Design, selection, procurement, manufacturing, assembly of components, installation, testing and commissioning of a complete HVAC system (including static exhaust, air extractor system for toilettes) in accordance with this technical specification (see also §3.4.1), the tender drawings and annexes; Design, selection, procurement, manufacturing, assembly of components, installation, testing and commissioning of a smoke extraction system in accordance with this technical specification (see also §3.4.2), the tender drawings and annexes; Design, supply and installation of stainless steel pipes or aluminium pipes for the compressed air distribution circuit (see also §3.4.3) and the associated regulators lubricator groups and accessories (like but not limited to fittings, couplings, drain valves); Design, supply and installation of insulated stainless steel pipes for the chilled water distribution circuit (see §3.4.1, Annex 9 and Annex 11) and the associated regulation valves and accessories (like but not limited to drains, vents, valves and connection flanges);

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ Scope of the supply Design, supply and installation of condensate collector pipes from air handling units (i.e., air handling units, air barriers) to the drainage; Design, supply and installation of metal structures, supporting frames for the air handling unit (if needed), pipes, ducts, and minor metal works; Design, supply and installation of flexible sleeves and sound attenuators to comply with the maximum permissible noise level (see §3.5.4 and Annex 1); Design, supply and installation of anti-vibration mounts for all equipment and materials; Supply of all components, consumables and tools needed for the commissioning, acceptance test, start up and initial operation of the systems (HVAC system, smoke extraction system and compressed air distribution) and all its components and in order to execute incidental works associated with systems; Supply of special tools required for the maintenance of the systems (HVAC system, smoke extraction system and compressed air distribution); Drilling of all openings for pipes passages in walls, floors and partitions, which shall be sealed by an appropriate material having at least the same fire resistance performance as the original wall or fire compartments; Design, supply and installation of the equipotential links and earthing of all metallic equipment (including the components on the roof);

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ Scope of the supply Design, supply and installation of all the cubicles (including all necessary hardware). The control cubicle UIAE (about this equipment code, see Annex 7) shall be fitted with a touch screen interface (supplied by CERN) and an emergency stop button that shall be easily accessible. The firemen cubicle shall be installed outside the building near the large access door; Sizing, selection, supply and installation of cables and cable trays (sized on the basis of the equipment proposed) from the cubicles (UIAC-00142, UIAE-00024, UICN – about these equipment codes, see Annex 7) to the various components, including the required electrical connections; Provision of a complete description and functional as well as malfunction analysis of the entire HVAC system and smoke extraction system, the I/O list and the electrical wiring diagrams to allow CERN to write the control software (see also §3.6); The Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT); Testing and commissioning at CERN (Point 8) of the HVAC system, smoke extraction system and compressed air distribution (all tooling and materials needed for the tests are part of the supply); Procurement and installation of all the labels in accordance with CERN requirements (see Annex 7);

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ Scope of the supply Entry of the component list data in electronic format using CERN’s dedicated tool ( Provision of the general arrangement drawings, design drawings, fabrication & installation drawings, air handling unit installation drawings (including weight and dimensions), heat load calculations, aeraulic study, hydraulic study, electrical study, operation, maintenance and service manuals; Provision of the technical file according to §3.6; Any other item of work which is not specifically mentioned in this technical specification, but needed for completion of the HVAC system, the smoke extraction system and the compressed air distribution; Provision of all necessary personnel, cranes, hoist and handling gear, tools, safety ladders and steps (as required), instruments and accessories needed for assembly, installation, performance testing and commissioning of the HVAC system, the smoke extraction system and the compressed air distribution.

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ HVAC requirements Indoor conditions Summer: temperature at floor level (1.5 meter) is 25 °C +/- 3 °C; Winter : temperature at floor level (1.5 meter) is 21 °C +/- 3 °C; Humidity: not controlled. Internal thermal loads Electrical source:30 kW Lighting source: 10 kW People (max 20 persons): 2 kW Miscellaneous: 1 kW Total: 43 kW Winter Thermal Losses and Summer Heat Loads Winter heat loads must be calculated as per EN ISO and EN ISO Summer heat loads must be calculated as per ASHRAE Handbook RTS Method.

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ The HVAC system – Description See also Annex 9: P&ID (EDMS ) The Assembly Hall will be maintained at positive pressure (to reduce the external air infiltrations), heated and cooled by an All-Air HVAC system (single zone type). The AHU will work on recycled air with a minimum of fresh air (1650 m 3 /h) to ensure air renewal inside the building during the winter and summer period. The amount of fresh air can be increased up to m 3 /h, in order to take advantage of free cooling, whenever necessary. The excess air will be discharged outside the building through a static air exhaust. Fresh air shall be drawn from an air intake grid.

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ HVAC system – AHU The AHU (UACW ) shall be installed on the mezzanine of the Building 3852 A dedicated circuit, from the Building 2875 to the Building 3852, shall be installed to supply the cooling coils of the AHU. The connection point to this circuit is located under this Building 2875 (gallery S402).

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ HVAC system – Ductworks Supply m 3 /h. Recycled m 3 /h. Fresh 1650 m 3 /h. A static exhaust will be mounted on the roof. The maximum discharge flow rate shall be m 3 /h during the summer season.

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ Smoke extraction system A smoke extraction ventilator, capable of discharging m 3 /h (1 m 3 /sec for every 100 m 2 surface), shall be installed on the roof of the building. Smoke extractor fire resistance shall be class F400/60 and they shall be installed in the highest part of the building.

Alessandro Saputi EN/CV/PJ Items and Services Supplied by CERN CERN will provide:  One electrical power outlet socket of the IEC type 6 (400 V, 32 A) for the construction site;  Power supplies to the electrical cubicles provided by the contractor;  All openings for ducts passages of walls, floors, roofs and partitions;  The template for the I/O list;  The control software;  The template for the functional/malfunction analysis including functional decomposition, RUN-STOP modes;  The physical Ethernet link, the connection socket and the address parameters;  Test of the dialogue of all instruments through the CERN Ethernet network with the SCADA supervision.
