Question 1: Many people are now worried about the negative influence of TV upon children who grow up watching it. Could you give some detailed examples?

TV has played a major role in providing entertainment and news within the homes of people worldwide. However, TV can also be harmful, especially to children Firstly, television has taken away children’s ability to form mental pictures, resulting in children who cannot understand a simple story without visual illustrations, secondly, too much TV takes up too much of children’s time, cause them to withdraw from real life. Thus they grow up to be passive viewers who can only respond to action, but not initiate it,

lastly, the most serious result comes from unhealthy scenes on the TV screen. While watching TV, children are often exposed to scenes of violence, murder and sex. They come to regard them as a matter of course. lastly, the most serious result comes from unhealthy scenes on the TV screen. Question 2: Sex and violence show on TV may poison the minds of people, especially teenagers. What do you think we should do to solve this problem?

As we know, many TV shows are filled with violence, bad language and a display of moral behavior that is not appropriate for children to view. The public has been discussing various solutions to this problem. The common belief is not to ban television but to restrict its dark side. Some are in favor of a micro-chip that can be built into all new television sets that will enable parents to block shows they do not want their children to watch. Others suggest that television shows display a “rating” that will inform the viewer, before the show starts, regarding the moral quality of the show.

Programs which are not suitable to children should not be shown during the hours children are normally awake.
