Slone February 24, 2009 Bagby Special Day Class (SDC) One FTE SDC Teacher (Jim Bacon) One 6hr/day Aide & Two 3.75hr/day Aides 11 K-2 students with significant and global developmental delays (e.g., Autism, MR, SLI, etc.) Kindergarten = 5 Students; 1 st Grade = 3 Students; 2 nd Grade = 3 Students Other Bagby SDC Notes: In previous years class had 6-8 students (with cap at 10) Due to increasing numbers class currently serves 11 students Due to class needs and size the 2 nd part-time aide was added

Annual Cost Per Student = $23,860 (includes transportation) Estimated Total Annual Cost = $190,880 - $238,600

Add SDC Aide Support (1 6hr/day & hr/day) = $58,715 Annual Instructional Supplies = $500 $142,292 (Total) + 3.5% (Indirect Costs) = $147, Additional $5,000 for one-time start up costs (furniture, etc.) *No cost for construction or facility space as classroom is available at Bagby

Slone February 24, 2009 Bagby SDC Options for Option 1: Fund Alternative Placements Estimated Total Annual Cost = $190,880 - $238,600 Average Annual Cost Per Student = $23,860 Option 2: Add another SDC at Bagby $142,292 (Total) + 3.5% (Indirect Costs) = $147, Estimated Total Annual Cost = $14,727-$18,409 per student Additional $5,000 for one-time start up costs (furniture, etc.)

Slone February 24, 2009 Bagby SDC Options for Option 1: Fund Alternative Placements Benefits: All of student IEP needs met by other District or COE Requires no additional staff time, personnel or facility space Drawbacks: No continuum of placement options at Bagby (only K-2) Costs more than creating own program (up to $91,328 annually) Dependent on other Districts or COE for options, recs, etc.

Slone February 24, 2009 Bagby SDC Options for Option 2: Add Another SDC at Bagby Benefits: Offers continuum of placement options at Bagby (K-5) Costs less than funding other placements ($91,328/year) More control with IEP services, recommendations, etc. Drawbacks: Additional class (staff & students) for Cambrian to support, including facility space, staff time (admin, support, etc.), etc.
