 Mrs Keane investigated.  Cost = £25  With school logo  Jackets = £12 Branwen 79 learners asked Yes = 18% No = 81%

Reported that learners feel conscious about using a bully box and can be bullied further for it. Agreed that an account will be set up for incidents of bullying to be reported. 3 s in total (all y7)

 Questionnaire went out all learners – KS3+4  707 responses  Every house/year group felt bullying was an issue that needs to be addressed.  Common theme was that students felt that telling a teacher may not always help.  Setting up peer supporters group with students who want to offer support to students who feel they are being bullied.

 Strategic implementation of recycling paper, cans and plastic bottles in yr7 to begin.  Raised beds were discussed – to begin in the summer term.  Seating area outside canteen - external bins to be moved from wings (not currently being used) to outside of canteen. Will improve litter issues outside.

SNAG group set up – KS4: 1 rep / house - KS3: 1 Yr 7 and Yr 8 Meeting arranged to discuss issues such as:  Prices  Selection  Meal deals  Themed days Consultation with Mrs Ash – Head cook.

 Reps explained that students said the topics and choices were unexciting and the questions posed becoming predictable. 1. Questions have now been removed from lots of the TOTW to vary discussions. 2. A working party has been set up to discuss DACW with Mrs Woodley – meeting this Friday.

 Friday 8 th March  Will Godfrey – Chief Executive of Newport  School council set up  Student voice  Question + Answer session  Meet with councillors

Non-school uniform day. Friday 15 th March Wear something RED. A donation of £1.

 Comic Relief is an operating British charity, founded in 1985 by the comedy scriptwriter Richard Curtis and comedian Lenny Henry in response to famine in Ethiopia.  The highlight of Comic Relief's appeal is Red Nose Day. Comic Relief is one of the two high profile telethon events held in the United Kingdom, the other being Children in Need.  The charity states that its aim is to "bring about positive and lasting change in the lives of poor and disadvantaged people, which we believe requires investing in work that addresses people's immediate needs as well as tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice."

Vs Can we beat the sum of our last fundraising event?

Remember …  If you have an idea or suggestion and would like to bring it to school council you must speak to your form reps.  They will take it to the house council to be discussed and then forward it to the school council.  Your house captain will then feed back what has been discussed and keep you up-to-date.

‘make your words speak louder’.

Remind us that we can all make a difference to how our school works. Help us to work hard to make a positive contribution. Also Help us to bring about positive and lasting change in the lives of poor and disadvantaged people, as well as tackle the root causes of poverty and injustice. May your faith support you.
