Definition The CLE is a virtual community platform that advances learning and knowledge creation through the innovative and effective use of technology.

Vision The CLE… connects the physical and virtual learning environments and integrates with technology-enhanced learning spaces. supports inter-professional education and collaboration by facilitating the sharing of expertise and resources. overcomes barriers of physical distance and disciplinary silos to facilitate multi-campus and international collaborations. harnesses the power of educational innovation and information technology to advance UCSF as a global leader in health sciences education.

Enhanced CLE Project Create a health sciences curriculum management tool based on SOM’s Ilios application that can evolve over time. Key features: –Integrates with Moodle –Learning objects repository –Supports course administration (schedules, small groups) –Curriculum reporting and oversight Deliver this system within a 24 month time frame.

Current Timeline Fall 2008 Initial launch of Moodle system for academic instruction; participation by each school. 8/ /2010 Migration of courses from WebCT to new CLE to complete in July / /2010 WebCT and CLE systems run in parallel. 1/2009 CLE+ development begins. Summer 2010WebCT retired.

I can apply similar reflection techniques to PRDS. SON forum activity is brisk, stimulating, and valued

CLE Impact at UCSF CLE envisions a common platform that supports learning and collaboration across UCSF. Modular approach offers flexible and customizable environment to meet diverse campus needs. Web 2.0 technologies facilitate engagement of students in learner-centered activities.

In addition to the resources that have been placed within each week, students are expected to actively engage with each other using discussion forums, wikis, and group assignments.
