2a. The Treaty of Versailles 2b. It was Germany, in which she was harsh treated by the other Powers in the Treaty. Thus Germany was well known as a crying baby. (1+3m) 2c. It was unfair and harsh Any 2 evidences: Her army was greatly reduced; She accepted the total war guilt clause; She had to give up her colonies and her territories. (3+3m)

3a. France (2m) 3b. It failed to bring real peace because this policy encouraged Germany’s further aggression. (2m) IN 1936, she annexed the whole Czechoslovakia and then Poland. This finally led to the WWII. (2m)

Short Questions (24m) The alliance system led to the formation of Triple Alliance (1882) and Triple Entente (1907). This might turn a local war to a general war when any one of the members were attacked by the other side. The other powers would join the war. (4m)

The extreme nationalism deepened the powers’ national rivalry. This led to many crises in Africa and the Balkans. These helped to bring about the WWI 2. The governments failed to solve the problems of unemployment and inflation. People then looked for a strong leader to solve their problems.

After the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was harshly treated. Germany was weakened by unemployment and inflation. People began to look for Hitler as a strong leader to solve the problems. Italians did not like the government because it did not solve the problem of unemployment and inflation. People began to look for Mussolini who could solve the above problems. (4m+4m)

3. Free answers Agree: I would accept the action to send the Jews to the concentration camps and killed them (max 4m) Because the Jews were not Germans and they were not loyal to our home country. They would betray the interests of Germany (max 4m)

Disagree: I did not accept this and I would try my best to save them from the concentration camp. Because the Jews were innocent and they did not do anything against the interests of Germany. They had also the right to live and we should respect them. (4+4m)
