The UN is still around today!

Question #7 (worksheet #8)  December 7, 1941 – The US is attacked by Japan at Pearl Harbor  FDR called this “A day which will live in infamy”  -Come on guys... This was an EASY one! It was a vocab word TOO! Sheesh!

Question #8 (worksheet #9)  Which of the nations below WAS NOT a member of the Axis Powers who declared war on the US during WWII?  Okay, I admit the wording here was TRICKY – I give you guys that. It is saying: “which of the four did not declare war on the US who happened to be a member of the axis powers” (see the difference – but it’s the same question). ANYWAY – it should have been the Soviet Union! They NEVER declared war on the US! JAPAN, ITALY and GERMANY did!

Question #9 (worksheet #12)  STALINGRAD - the battle where Soviet forces defeated the Nazis – is considered to be a turning point in WWII.  THIS IS HUGE! Home-court advantage to Stalin and his team! The Germans fought in a VERY cold and barren geographic location! Proof that the Nazis CAN be beat!

Question #10 (worksheet #13)  What American general let US troops throughout the North Africa campaign?  DWIGHT D EISENHOWER  Before he became President (after Truman) he was a WWII hero!

Question #11 (worksheet #15)  What US military leader led a US-Filipino force to defend the Philippines and left the Pacific with the words "I shall return"?  DOUGLAS MACARTHUR  And he DOES return – you guys wait and see!

Question #12 (worksheet #16)  What is the murderous forced march of American soldiers across the Philippine islands – during which over 10,000 American soldiers were murdered by the Japanese – called today?  The Bataan Death March  Getting this one wrong just simply proves you didn’t read the section! Or listen to any ppt’s!
