Do Now – Quick Write Our environmental problems have been rapidly increasing for over a hundred years. We can’t solve them in a week, a month, or even a year. The longer we wait however, the worse the issues will become. Think about Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth and discuss how the world’s current environmental struggles have improved or worsened.

Homework and Announcements Take a picture of pollution. Submit through PPMH homework page. Be prepared to share and discuss GIZMO: Greenhouse Effect Print and complete exploration sheet + quiz Quarter One Project Description Bring your book next class (Mon) Reading chapter 3 & 4 We will be discussing chapter 3

An Inconvenient Truth Finish video (aprox. 16 min) Discuss. Think – Discuss – Share Out Please write the question and jot down notes while discussing with your table group. What information did you find the most interesting from this documentary? Were there any facts that surprised you? Al Gore talks quite a bit about melting glaciers. Do you think the consequence of global climate change can be reversed? Why? Has your opinion about climate change changed since watching this documentary? Explain.

GIZMO: Greenhouse Effect On page 3 of the revised edition of David Suzuki’s book, The Sacred Balance, he mentioned Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth stating that it “was like a seed crystal dropped into a supersaturated solution, precipitating public awareness and concern about global warming.” In chapter 2 we read about greenhouse gasses and the fragile homeostasis earth needs to maintain to support life. Today Decide if you will work individually or in small groups (2-3 people) Goal: What, as exactly as possible, do you hope or expect to accomplish by doing this project? In what ways will the environment be helped? Due Date for presentations October 20 th.
