Why Loving Kindness ? A feeling relatively easy to bring about An antidote to hatred ( one of the three roots of suffering)

What kind of Loving Kindness ? Not narrow love Not possessive love Not love looking for reciprocity Not love without wisdom

Benefits of Loving Kindness Meditation Helps us to handle negative emotions towards others. Maintains a state of mind that is calm, stable and peaceful. Positive effect on people around you. Positive feedback. A kind of self-hypnosis and self- suggestion ? Prone to be exploited by others?

Technique of L K M Start off with breathing meditation Think of a person close to you. Imagine yourself wishing him/her to be happy, free from anxiety and affliction. A feeling of loving kindness will arise. Let it permeate every part of your body.. Stabilize yourself in this mood.

Technique of LKM ( Cont’d) Extend well-wishing loving kindness to all the people that you know. Extend this to all the people in this world

Technique of L K M AND FINALLY Extend this to people that you do not like Try to maintain this state of mind all through the day and greet everyone you meet with this feeling of loving kindness.
