CONCRETE BRICKS

Concrete bricks This are cast from a mixture of fine, coarse aggregates and cement pressed into steal moulds. The natural setting and hardening process of cement determines the compressive strength of this bricks. They may be solid or frogged and are available as facings, commons and engineering quality.

Size The standard metric size is particularly the same as for clay bricks, being 215*103*65mm. Metric modular bricks are 190mm and 290mm long to give courses 65mm and 90mm deep and are available to order.

colour The basic colour of concrete bricks is grey due to the portland cement. Inorganic powder pigments are used to produce a range of plain and multi- colour bricks.

Surface texture Concrete bricks are made smooth faced, exposed aggregate weathered, or split so as to resemble natural stone.

Compressive Facings and commons are made with a compressive strength of 21 N/mm 2 : engineering quality at 40 N/mm 2.
