Conclusion and Recommendations 1. The curriculum 2. Curriculum Progress 3. Future Curriculum Management 4. Korean University Collaboration 5. Planned Academic Network Establishment

The curriculum  The result from the survey can point that every university has proposed Korean Language Courses, but Ramkhamhaeng University has proposed the related – Korean courses or Korean Studies as electives. As the result, the proficiency in Korean Language as major and minor courses will enhance the career opportunities for students. In addition, there will be much more difficulties and obstacles for whoever plans to learn Korean Studies from any aspect in depth since there have not been any scholars who can really fluently understand Korean Language for the purposes of learning from original Korean source documents.

Curriculum Progress  There are three universities those can develop Korean Language Courses from electives to minors and majors consecutively for some periods of time. All mentioned universities have been supported and enforced for curriculum design, textbook development, and instructor assistance by organizations, academic institutes and resource persons from Korea in many ways of cooperation.  Korean courses used to be proposed in some institutes as electives for 3-7 academic years, especially in Rajabhat Institutes, those courses have to be cancelled later. As reference information is concerned, we believe that there were serious human resource problems.

Future Curriculum Management  Most universities seem to conduct primarily in Korean Language, secondly in Culture and Social. As far as these two fields are well-supported and well-promoted, the Korean language learning will be more deeply profound. However, it is so obvious that the interests in History, Politics, Economics and Labor are less than it should be. As far as the circumstances are concerned, those mentioned fields will be much useful for Thailand if we can learn a lot more in depth.

Korean University Collaboration  Most universities need to be assisted to exchange students and staff together with joint and cooperative researches. Those demands reflect in the lack of skilled native instructors, direct experiences from natives to learners, and fruitful researches.

Planned Academic Network Establishment  More information from most universities about current network with Asiatic Research Center of Korea University, The Center for Area Studies of Seoul National University, Center for Asia-Pacific Studies of Kyung- Hee University, Korean Association for Southeast Asian, and Pusan University for Foreign Studies is still activate. In contrast, there is not any sign of contact with Burapha University and Prince of Songkla University at Pattani where holding Korean Courses as majors.

Recommended assistances 1. Academic Institutes, Foundations, or any willingful agencies in Korea can assist and support Thai Universities in many ways, such as, Staff / Student Exchange Programs, Joint researches, Text / Instructor manual development and so on in form of financial aid, or else, with constructed mutual agreement between countries in order to serve both national policies.

Recommended assistances 2. Cooperative and collaborative through private sectors or trade associations should be provided as other alternative ways of funding and enforcing for sustainable academic development.

Recommended assistances 3. Effective and efficiency means to maintain and initiate networks among AUN members and other institutes will enhance ultimately prosperous and beneficial shared database. As mentioned earlier, Korean Studies Center at Burapha University has been collecting and managing Thailand’s database about Korean Studies. Also, our willingness to share and exchange any assistance or data among members will be very welcomed for the purpose of Korean Studies promotion. We would like to prepare our center to serve any scholars, universities, or interested persons if it will be useful.
