This place has become settlement of noble familys in Six Dynasties.Merchants,scholars and many other kinds of people gathered in here.At the same time,Confucianism reached the peak of excellence. But after Sui and Tang dynasties,though it gradually declined,many scholars and poets paid a visit to it and many poems was handed down.

Qin Huaihe is a branch of Changjiang River,about 110 kilometers,which is the major river in nanjing.Legendarily Qin Shi Huang saw the purple clouds slowly rising in JinLing when he traveled in the east.So he think it is atmosphere of being king.And he call for digging Mountain Fang in order to make it flowing into Changjiang River.Later generation mistakes that the river is digged in Qin Dynasty,so it is called "qinhuai".
