Explorers of the New World Francis Drake Captain Cook Magellan Prince Henry

The Travels of Ferdinand Magellan Hello. I’m Ferdinand Magellan, Spanish explorer. I lead the first expedition around the world in 1519 to 1522. I sailed across the majestic Atlantic Ocean and reached a tropical place which today is South America, in search of the Spice Islands. Unfortunately, I never made it to the Spice Islands. Out of 250 men, only 18 survived…I wasn’t one of them.

The Travels of Sir Francis Drake My name is Sir Francis Drake. I’m a English explorer and I was the first Englishman to sail around the world. In 1577-1580, I entered the Straits of Magellan, then I sailed up the coast of Chile and Peru attacking and destroying Spanish ships. Then I crossed the equator and returned with 1 ship and a half-starved crew of 58 men. I brought back glorious treasures. I died at age 55 in 1596.

The Travels of Captain James Cook Hi, my name is Captain James Cook. In 1577, I set out to Tahiti. I sailed around what is today, South America. When I got to Tahiti, I traded nails, iron tools, cloth and other useful things for large pigs, delectable fruit, and exotic coconuts. Then I made a map of majestic Tahiti and sailed back to England. I took aboard a chief named Tupaia. I came back in 1769. I died in 1779.

The Travels of Prince Henry the Navigator Hi! I am Prince Henry the Navigator. Portuguese explorer. I wanted to go on an expeditions to Africa. I had heard many wonderful things about Africa. Unfortunately, I went on my expedition to Africa. I went on other journeys, but that’s another story. I lived to be 66 and died in 1560.
