Learning Intentions Academic Goal – To think about what life is like for workers in Scotland – To learn about what life is like for workers in China – To compare and contrast the experiences of workers in both countries. Social Goal

Success Criteria I can give examples of common jobs in Scotland and describe what life is like for workers here. I can describe how life for workers in China is very different to what it is like in Scotland

Workers in Scotland Think about anyone in your family / friends / neighbours who has a job. What kind of work do they do? Do they enjoy their job? How many hours do they work? You are going to complete a mindmap on what it is like for workers in Scotland. On the next slide is a template to help you organise your knowledge. Add in at least two points in each section.

What is life like for workers in China? Watch the following video clip (only need to watch first 3 mins) There are no sound – you just have to watch and try to answer the following questions – Who are the Mingong? – What do the Mingong do?

What is life like for workers in China? Look at the handout - What is life like for workers in China? Read page 72 Compare this definition of who the Mingong are with what you wrote in your jotter whilst watching the video clip – did you get it right? You are now going to complete the skill activity on page 72. You will need a ruler to do this.
