Anxiety  Part of everyday life  Everyone feels stress  Anxiety is heavier than stress

Stigmas  “It’s all in your head”  “You’re overreacting”  “It’s about the attention”  Remaining calm reduces symptoms

The Good and the Bad  Some stress is a motivator study for exam allows you to react (i.e. car driving)  Stress is tiring and can run you down

Why is it relevant to TWLOHA?  Anxiety accompanies or is a cause of some other problems (i.e. depression, addiction)

How common?  VERY

What causes anxiety?  Sometimes stems from a feeling of losing control of yourself or the environment  We then begin to avoid anxiety situations

Symptoms  Adrenaline, heart racing, breathing faster faster thinking, terrified feeling, sweating,  affects the choices we make and the things we do.  Repeated thoughts  Uneasiness  Problems sleeping muscle tension

Becomes a problem when:  A lot of us experience anxiety, but at a certain point it become too much  Responses that happen after (way after) the event  Gets worse the less we deal with it  Impairs our lives  It is difficult to understand because we can’t always link it to stress

Treatment Options  Similar to depression:  Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and sugar  Know ourselves slow down Breath quiet mind

Sleep Problems  Usually a sleep problem presents  Treating the sleeplessness is not the answer.  Getting help for the cause if the key.
