CHAPTER 12 How Much (or Little) Do We Know

School Calendar  The board MUST approve the school calendar; that calendar HAS to include student days, staff development days, and time for parent-teacher conferences.  True or False  True

Day of School...  If the elementary building has boiler problems and you don’t have a day of school in that building (yet, the other buildings go to school), the elementary does not have to make up the day.  True or False  True

Evaluations.....  Superintendents are evaluated every 3 years like teachers.  True or False  False

Cumulative Records....  While you may keep cumulative records electronically, you must keep a paper copy during the time students are in your school.  True or False?  False

Librarian  A district must have a qualified school librarian. The amount of FTE is set by the district. So, having a librarian 3 days a month, one day in each building, is okay.  True or False?  True

School Nurse  While parents/community may ‘want’ a school nurse on staff, it is not required to have a nurse.  True or False?  False

Teachers  You must offer art, PE, and music in the elementary.  True or False?  If your grade level teachers teach these courses, that meets the requirement?  Yes or No

Licensure  Teacher and superintendent licenses are renewable every 5 years on the anniversary of the first license date.  True or False  False

Kindergarten  A district has the option of whether to offer kindergarten instruction?  True or False  False
