Research governance seeks to Define and communicate clear quality standards regarding - ethics - scientific quality - the performance of research - safety - finance Put into place mechanisms to achieve standards Monitor quality and assess adherence to standards

Implications for radiographer researchers May discourage novice researchers but opportunity for improved training and support protect researchers from research misconduct 1 –e.g. fabrication of research data, fraud and misuse of research funding protect researchers in an increasing litigious society

In conclusion... Research governance not an option it is a requirement it is here to stay helps researchers in clarifying what is expected of them ensures public accountability highlights the need for first class training and support.
