Educator Preparation Programs - O.A.C RE: Full Approval of Programs B. The Chancellor will review programs regularly and determine their continued approval status as approved, approved with conditions, or not approved. 1. A college or university shall be designated as approved if the program meets all conditions of paragraph (A) to the satisfaction of the Chancellor; 2. A college or university education preparation shall be designated as approved with conditions if the program does not meet one of the conditions of paragraph (A) of this rule; a. A college or university educator preparation program that is designated approved with conditions has up to 24 months after notification of the decision to take corrective action and become approved without conditions. The Chancellor may limit enrollment in the program until the program receives approval without conditions; b. After twenty-four months, if the institution continues to fail to satisfy the requirements in (A), the program will be designated as not approved. If the educator preparation program is designated as not approved, any student previously enrolled in the professional education program at the time of the decision will be permitted to complete the program by a deadline established by the Chancellor and be certified by the institution as a candidate for licensure. The institution shall not admit any new students until it is granted approval by the Chancellor. “education preparation program… has up to 24 months after notification of the decision to take corrective action and become approved without conditions” “After 24 months... program will be designated as not approved.”

Reading Endorsement Update Individuals who wish to add the reading endorsement must successfully complete the 12-hour reading core in addition to the program standards and requirements for the reading endorsement. This means that reading endorsement programs who accept teachers who were not required to take the entire 12-hour reading core during their initial teacher preparation program (including teachers with the multi-age license, the adolescence to young adult license, and the career-technical license) will need to ensure that these candidates complete the 12-hour reading core in addition to the program standards and requirements for the reading endorsement. Effective for all students first enrolled on or after January 1, 2012 Teachers must complete the 12-hour reading core in addition to meeting the program standards and requirements for the endorsement
