 Career planning  Develop a resume’  Take practice SAT and ACT exams  Research colleges and universities  Build college and scholarships lists  Understand college costs  Share your progress with parents, mentors, counselors, and teachers

Need help with ACT/SAT or other college “stuff?” Fridays in the Go Center from 1-4pm You can make a request to see them on the counseling website.

Have you taken the SAT and/or ACT yet? If not, register ASAP. Next SAT, Oct. 5 th (registration is over) Then, Nov. 2 rd (regular registration until Oct. 3 rd ) (Fee: $51 Late fee: +$27.50) Next ACT, Oct. 26 th (regular registration until Sept. 27 th ) (Fee w/writing: $52.50) SAT & ACT materials are in the Go Center.

You may also be required to take an additional exam if you are not exempt via TAKS, SAT, ACT, etc. TAKS - For ELA- min & min. writing score of a 3; for MATH – min College may accept test scores from one of the following: Accuplacer, Asset, Compass, or THEA

Apply to College Online:  Texas Common Application - Admission application for every Texas public university, plus some private and two year schools

Apply to College Online The Common Application – Admission application predominantly for private universities throughout the U.S. and some public schools

Free Application for Federal Student Aid Submit as soon after Jan. 1st as possible (requires W-2 info); funds are issued on a first-come, first serve basis

FREE Money  Scholarships based on merit/talent  Grants based on financial need Loans  Subsidized loans – the government pays the interest while the student is in school  Unsubsidized loans – the student pays the interest College Work Study Part-time jobs provided by the college (for those who qualify).
