G050: Lecture 06 Asset Creation – Task Ci Mr C Johnston ICT Teacher

Session Objectives Understand what evidence needs to be produced for task ci Showing the development of an IMMP and developing skills to create elements of it (0-9 marks)

Assets An asset is a media element which will appear in your interactive multimedia product, Many assets are combined together to form your interactive multimedia product, Assets should include in your product include: Text, Drawings, diagrams and charts, Digital pictures, scanned images and retrieve clip art, Images, including clip art, Animation, Sounds effects, backing music, speech, Video clips,

Asset Development Whilst opus is great at assembling interactive multimedia products it has few tools to create / edit assets, Therefore the majority of assets will need to be created outside of OPUS using different software applications, Some of the tasks you may well have to undertake to create your assets include: Create, format and edit text; Create drawings, diagrams and charts; Take digital pictures, scan images and retrieve clip art; Edit images, including clip art; Import and convert text and graphics files; Create animation; Record and edit sounds; Record and edit video clips.

Task Ci Task Ci requires you to show how you developed assets for your solution and in doing so, develop your ICT skills, Skills need to be both developed and extended DEVELOPED= I had no idea how to do it at all before and now do EXTENDED = I knew a skill before but can now use it to do more / found a different way of using it Mark scheme Band #1 Show how some elements have been developed and show your range of ICT skills has increased, Band #2 Show that at least 3 elements from video, sound, images, animation, charts/diagrams/drawings have been produced and show that you have developed new ICT skills and extended existing ones Band #3 Show that you have created an extensive variety of elements and that you have developed new ICT skills and extended existing ones independently

Evidence The development of ICT skills can be demonstrated by using screen shots and explaining how elements have been made and completing a diary / table to show the skills used – which have been gain / expanded and how acquired, DateWhat DoingSkills Developed / Extended How Acquired 01/01/15Creating a menu for NEWT pub – aligning the prices I knew how to use tabs before but learnt how to use decimal tab alignment so prices all neatly aligned and the leader feature so prices has …… before them Looked in the help file within MS Publisher 01/01/15Creating a menu for NEWT pub – image manipulation I knew how to crop and rotate an image in publisher but learnt how to do it in Fireworks. I also learnt from scratch how to remove a background from the chilli image in fireworks and make it transparent which I have not done before Crop – fireworks help file Remove BG – youtube video: v=TYOoWtn_S2I v=TYOoWtn_S2I REMEMBER To explain / prove with your log how skills have been gained include sources of information (websites, manuals etc) and how they were found.

Task ci Examples Today I made a menu using tabs. I have never used tabs before in my life so I looked in an office manual and learnt how to use the menu bar and tab selector. I used left tab, decimal tab and right tab. This answer has the makings for band 3 as skills have been learnt independently - however if log only has new skills gained then it would only be band 1 – for band 2 must have in diary examples of both new skills gained and existing skills being extended no matter how they are acquired. Today I created my menu in Fireworks we did this in year 9 so I knew what I was doing but I didn’t know how to add a drop down menu to the bar. Sir gave me a work sheet on how to do it and I followed the instructions. This answer has the makings for band 2 it’s a clear extension of existing skills which have been learnt using teachers notes - however if log only has extensions of existing skills in it then it would only be band 1 – for band 2 must have in diary examples of both existing skills being extended new skills gained Today I made a menu using tabs. I have used tabs before but only to align text left – my prices on the menu were not lining up straight and I wanted a dotted line between the label and price. I vaguely remember many years ago somebody talking about decimal tabs and leaders so I went onto the internet and did a search – I found lots of tutorials including some video ones showing me how to use the tabs menu properly. My menu now looks great with all the prices lined up and a neat dotted line between label and price making it easy to follow. To get my menu printed professionally I need to save it as a PDF – I have never used PDF software before however using the help file which came with acrobat it showed me how to create a PDF from an existing file. I now have a completed menu in PDF format ready to send to the printers. Band 3 quality answer includes both gaining new skills and extending existing ones – independently. Including the websites used would have improved the evidence. More examples in the diary of this quality and band 3 would have to be awarded.

Task Using your plans create a list of assets which you need to create, Think carefully about how you will make each asset – what skills are needed and how can you develop skills which you don’t currently have, Produce documentation showing how individual assets have been made REMEMBER TO CLEARLY SHOW: A wide range of assets being created Skills have been both developed and extended independently
